IIRB SEMINAR 'LONG-TERM BEET STORAGE FOR SUGAR PRODUCTION'
16/10/2012, KWS breeding station, Seligenstadt
The IIRB Seminar 'Long-term beet storage for sugar production' was held in the afternoon of the 16th October 2012 at KWS breeding station Seligenstadt near Würzburg in Germany. It was linked to the harvester demonstration 'Beet Europe' taking place in Seligenstadt the following day.
The seminar was attended by 150 persons. It demonstrated the importance of beet quality on processing of sugar beet. The different storage conditions in Europe require different storage modes. Physiological processes during storage were explained and results from the joint study on genotype effects in storage recently performed in the frame of the IIRB were reported. Practical experiences with prolonged storage were also demonstrated. Please find the programme of the seminar here.
Presentations are available for download to IIRB members after login.
